Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry

The pairing of gas chromatography with mass spectrometry (GC‑MS) results in a specific and sensitive technique for identifying and quantifying a wide range of relatively low molecular weight compounds of environmental and forensic interest.

The high sensitivity of the GC‑MS technique demands solvents of exceptional purity both for extraction and for sample introduction to the instrument. Such solvents should be reasonably volatile and a number with such desired properties are now well established in use; acetonitrile, acetone, dichloromethane, heptane, hexane, methanol, pentane, 2,2,4‑trimethylpentane and toluene. ROMIL‑UpS ultra gc versions of these solvents are the result of our extensive experience in distillation technology.

Packaging in specially pre-treated amber glass bottles means that trace metal impurities are kept as low as when freshly manufactured and makes ROMIL‑UpS  ultra gc solvents also suitable for GC‑ICP‑MS in speciation studies.
