Ultra Clean Bottles for Ultra Trace Metal Analysis
However, Teflon bottles and labware can contain significant amounts of metallic impurities from both the resins and manufacturing process. In general, virgin Teflon PFA (perfluoroalkoxy) and FEP (fluorinated ethylene polypropylene) resins are better than PTFE in terms of metal impurities, but even bottles and labware manufactured from the best virgin resins and exhaustively pre-cleaned prior to use can still contain impurities which will compromise acid solutions at sub-ppb levels. Following an extensive international development effort to investigate the source of this contamination and ways to remove it from the manufacturing process ROMIL have made available a range of significantly cleaner Teflon PFA and FEP bottles. These are specially manufactured then pre-cleaned using ROMIL-UpA™ acids to remove leachable metals and then packaged in Class 100 clean room conditions. Not only are these the state of art bottles in which ROMIL-UpA™ acids are offered, they are also now available ready for use by trace metal analysts in the most demanding of applications.
